My next tank will be Shell Diesel Extra. Supposed to be very good. Been available up north for a while. Only just become available in the South.

Shell Diesel Extra is a fuel with an exclusive formulation that is designed to clean the engine. This can lead to better engine performance and increased fuel economy as well as reduced emissions. Shell Diesel Extra contains a powerful detergent, which helps to clean away and reduce the build up of the harmful fuel system deposits that can collect in a diesel vehicle's fuel injection system, reducing performance and fuel economy.

Shell Diesel Extra is also higher in cetane than conventional diesel. Cetane is an indication of the fuel's readiness to ignite and a diesel fuel with a higher cetane number will aid combustion. This can lead to the engine running more smoothly with less noise and reduced emissions.
I hope there's a difference I can notice.

I just use regular diesel but i might try that. But i dont think that you would feel the extra performance. Were probably talking about a few bhp.

I use Shell Diesel Extra all the time and like it. However, I can't remember what the car was like before it!! Certainly still feels sprightly enough...(330d 184bhp + tuning box)

I use SDE whenever I can - that plus Millers makes a huge difference in performance, but no change in MPG in my hands (or should that be feet!).

Interesting to see that Esso has joined in the premium diesel fuel game - anyone tried this product yet?

If the Shell diesel gets better MPG, then I'm happy.

Not tried the BP or Esso versions, as they cost lots more. Maybe with Shell being the same price, they will follow suit. Assuming they're about the same, that is.

It's been available in Holland for a while now. All motorway service stations sell it. Can't say I noticed any improvement.
It's a lot more expensive tho..

Shell don't charge any more for Diesel Extra.

BP Ultimate Diesel is a fair bit more expensive than the regular stuff.
