The beginning was really promising, he missed the carnage before the first corner and then showed some nice overtaking on a couple of more experienced drivers. He was pushing it hard. Ran off twice, once in a very big way but recovered both times.

Come on BMW! Get this guy in a competitive car then

He was pushing it hard.
Yes, pushing so hard the US commentators compared him to Alesi, which is not a good thing IMHO. I wonder if that contributed to his tire problems? Short term, he moved up nicely but in the long run a smooth drive is better for the car, especially on soft rubber. Ultimately he went the wrong way after qualifying well. But when young and inexperienced he needs to show some fire. The discipline can come later, so long as it comes.

From what I read in an interview with him in the Polish press today in the 2nd pit stop he switched to a too soft rubber compound which beaded quickly so he couldn't go as fast as he was able to in the early laps - they tyres were losing grip earlier. You're right that he has a very aggressive driving style and a reputation for chewing up rubber.

The typicall polish driving style. Need to be faster than the police cars trying to catch you in that stolen car...

It's from learning how to overtake the frightened German tourists who have forgotten what overtaking is and end up 10 of them queued up behind a Fiat 126

Indeed nice race...too bad they had alot of bad luck. Damn Fisichela for messing up Heidfelds hard VERY VERY nice qualifing results. I'm telling u guys if they keep the same pace in 2 years time they will become one of the top teams (if they are smart enough with the drivers). Go Kubica ! Don't blow it up.
