I just got back from vacation and would like to share a bit of it with you here!
Finally this year we managed to do what we thought we should have done long time ago already, living so close to France
We took our baby E60 and planned a long vacation trip around France. Obviously we did not see it "all", but well, good part of it.
I recommend it to anyone who can do it, maybe a small tip: do it just before or after the French vacation-season to avoid those huge traffic jams on freeways and to get lower prices everywhere you stop
("Low French-vacation-season" meaning: June/ beg. July or September)
So, here are few numbers to start with:
Also, I decided to put back my runflat fitted 135Ms just for this trip as we planned to pass by many small, mountain roads, see some really distant villages, and I did not feel like waiting a week for a 285/25/20 tire on my current "high summer" 20inch setup in case of a tire-puncture somwhere out there...
We saw French Alps, French Mediteranean shores: Cote d'Azur, then by Provance towards Atlantic shores: Medoc, Bordeaux, Vandee (French Atlantic oceanside) and then a trip along the Loire river on our way back.
What amazed me the most (I guess) is that every region, every part of France produces their own, specific and original wines... There are wineries everywhere... And for the wine-taster it means... a lot of good drinkin... and of course: a trunk full of bottles for that small private winery in the cellar downstairs as a souvenir of a great summer...
Here are few photo impressions, enjoy!
ALPS:
PROVANCE:
Cote d'Azur, NICE:
Built "right on the Mediteranean water" the airport of Nice:
MONACO
Cathedral of Monaco:
CANNES:
AMG taxis in Cannes....
AVIGNON:
CARCASSONE:
at the French Atlantic ocean, LA ROCHELLE:
Famous XVIII century Napoleon's Fort Boyard, built at the French Atlantic shores:
Few castles along Loire River, on our way back:
Cathedral of Orleans:
Noticed on the road

So, here are few numbers to start with:
- mileage covered in France 4300km (2700 miles)
- time covered: 4 weeks (mid June / beg. July)
- average consumption on French highly speed-restricted motorways: 5,4 L / 100km
- average diesel price 1,5 Eur/L
