I did a BMW Pefection M Fahrer Training in Zandvoort circuit (Amsterdam) with the Z4M coupe for two days on track. On both days we learned the ideal circuit line in 330i Track Trainers. With telemetry data recorded by Claudia Huertgen. It was a dream. I have pictures from there. "Driving" the self-driving 330i with lap recorded by Claudia is a dream. Scary but still a dream.

More torque does not mean it's faster. Just accelerates a bit faster. But that's not necessarily faster.

more torque = better
hp is just torque multiplied by rpm, and since diesels don't reach high rms from construction they need big torque numbers.

So be it a petrol car or a diesel car or whatever engine on the face of this planet more torque is better than less torque. For normal people that is...
