Tires to get EU labeling

During the Swedish EU Presidency, the Swedish Enterprise and Energy Minister has encourage the process of getting a single tire labeling. According to news this morning, the decision has now been taken on a new EU regulation for the labeling of tires covering
* rolling resistance
* noise
* wet grip
From November 2012 all tires sold in the EU must be marked with symbols (see attachment).
"The new label is an important step to reduce energy use in transport. That is why the marking of tires was one of the goals we have set ourselves to achieve during the Swedish EU presidency," says Enterprise and Energy Minister Maud Olofsson in today's press statement.

Agreed - great idea. Ass for lateral grip, they said they were looking for energy savings which means they could care less about actual performance - as usual. Still it's a good idea to simplify the way tires are labeled.
