I've found good information on dslreports.com for these kinds of internet provider issues...

Good luck,
Randy...
Thanks!

Like anything on the Internet, take what you read with a grain of salt. This may be more true with DSLReports. They're notorious for spreading FUD.

I heard from my neighbor who switched to FIOS that the service is not that much better than Comcast. And there is currently a class action against Verizon. Because the service promised was not there but the monthly fee is higher than what was advertised. Anyway, that's main reason why I haven't switched. I was sold when it first came out. But not anymore. GL with your decision.

FIOS is an M5, comcast is a ford focus.

your example might be a little extreme i think we are talking M5 to 535 here.

you know, both companies have horrendous customer service anyway. so you are screwed. If i had comcast i would have switched. its a lose lose with Customer service. Brighthouse is awesome, i had an issue one day, i called them up, NEVER got put on hold, except for a minute so she could talk to a tech. she comes back on the line and asks "are you home now, a tech will be there in about 20 minutes"

...imagine that. brighthouse is like the USAA of cable companies.

Perhaps,,,, I had comcast for 3 yrs, then FIOS for 3 years. I have had excellent customer service from both.
I switched to get the 15/5 internet for gaming, plus all the high def channels (over 100).
Love it.

Exactly. FiOS is quite good. I can easily get max sustained download equal to my capped rate. Also, my Vonage ATA performs flawlessly on FiOS. On Comcast, it was really hit or miss due to the jitter and packet loss.

Also, when getting support, it helps if you know where to call... Verizon is a really big place.

Verizon Fiber Support: 888-553-1555

With that said, DOCSIS 3.0 is going to help level the playing field from a technology standpoint. It says nothing of the other issues folks have with Comcast, but at least the potential to run a competitive service will be there.

I've had Verizon FIOS for my phones, cable and internet for several years now and have never had a problem with ANY of them!! Blazing speeds etc. I would STRONGLY suggest getting it if it is available in your area!

I work for Verizon selling Fios, let me know if you have any questions. I only service VA/MD/DC so I wont be able to help you there, but as fas as your original question in regards to your email address switch, go to www.trueswitch.com...Some of my customers used it and said it worked fine. Hoped this helped. Let me know if you have any questions. GL

I used to work for Verizon as an Engineer, the FIOS service is quite good, just NEVER, NEVER EVER?, YES NEVER EVER get suckered into DSL. DSL is the worst technology ever. I don't live in a FIOS area (those were what we called "fiber to curb" or in less prosperous areas "fiber to da hood"), but if I did I would dump Charter quicker than you can say "FIOS". If you think Comcast is bad, try Charter sometime, they REALLY suck.

Oh happy day!

I upgraded my Verizon FiOS Media Manager software, and now I can stream video from my PC to the Media DVR set-top-box. Before it could only do music and photos. It also will connect to the Internet and stream Internet video!

The Home Media DVR is $19.99/mo, which is $5 more than the regular HD-DVR, but it lets the non-DVR boxes in the house view the DVR content that is recorded on the DVR. It also permits the Internet media streaming and streaming of content from a PC on your home network.
