Thats typical of today.. people trying kill off the winning mentality of boys/girls at school, and trying to teach them that it's the 'Taking part' that counts 
A better attitude in my opinion is for the winning side to quite rightly enjoy the victory, and for the losing side to pick themselves up, accept they got beat, but to give it their best shot to either win the next game or get the margine of defeat down. Basically keep on trying, and have a bit of determination and self belief in their ability.
That would be a good attitude to have in all aspects of life.
A better attitude in my opinion is for the winning side to quite rightly enjoy the victory, and for the losing side to pick themselves up, accept they got beat, but to give it their best shot to either win the next game or get the margine of defeat down.
