In case you haven't see the ATT reaction to recent bad press here's their response...
Translation
1. ATT can't plan or react to market demand with two years of trending showing increased usage on the iPhone. This trend was evident from the first few months of the iPhone launch in 2007
2. Every other provider in the world can offer MMS for the iPhone the day of the 3GS launch. Something ATT needed an extra two-three months to do.
3. MMS is coming September 25th and according to the calendar in the video this day falls on a Wednesday. September 25th 2009 actually falls on a Friday. (The next Sept 25th is in 2013)
4. The 3G iPhone data plans cost $15 more than the original iPhone ($20 for unlimited data including 200 text messages vs $30 for unlimited data plus $5 for 200 text messages). Users have been paying more since summer 2008 so whining about the cost of doing business when you increase the cost of playing is not going to gain sympathy
5. Extra capacity can be increased by adding more towers with reduced power. Capacity is only finite if you don't expand.
6. They're bringing their 3G network to more markets. So if you live in one of those 2G markets and want an iPhone, you've stuck paying more monthly service than the original iPhone for the same 2.5G network. Is that really going to make anyone feel better?
I get it, you don't have to go with ATT if you don't like them. Actually, I haven't had any problems with the exception of one spot where I will consistently drop signal. I had the same problem with Verizon, Sprint, TMobile, and Nextel so I would hardly call it an issue only affecting ATT. I'm not an ATT hater but I can't help but feel insulted by this BS PR stunt.
I wouldn't want to be an ATT shareholder right now.

The iPhone awesome but it's crippled by AT&T's old outdated craptacular network. If and when the iPhone is on VZW it will ROCK!

Interesting...i'm looking to switch over from T mobile very soon. Regardless of the reasoning provided on MMS, I still don't understand why the almighty Iphone can not receive MMS....

It's not the iPhone, it's AT&T's network that is causing the problem.
PS...on a side note, another thing that bugged me about the Iphone (not att) was the fact that the text message board just recently (in the 3gs) able to flip around horizontally!

The iPhone can receive MMS since the 3.0 software release. It's ATT that has yet to activate MMS on the iPhone. Every other carrier world wide that carries the iPhone supports it. The way around MMS today is to send email.

CDMA call management is outdated and incapable of properly understanding call state. Verizon might have something once they roll out LTE nation wide but until then I'll stick with GSM.

So many people will leave AT&T for Verizon, when it happens. I know I will, AT&T blows!

and I've had it with 3.0 as well (With native iPhone Software).
All it takes is modifying the Carrier file for 3.0.

Verizon 4g network will be up in 2010. Ready for a next-gen 4g iphone.
