If you want to "play" on public roads, don't get mad if you can't pull away. Cars like MazdaSpeed3 and Cobalt SS can keep up and then some.

BTW, the C&D Lightning Lap is the closest thing to a US comparative track test of production cars. It is done with the Grand course at VIR, a mix of the big full course and the tight Patriot autocross. Here is a link to the lap times of every car tested in 4 years: Lightning Lap Times The latest Cobalt SS is impressive at 3:13.0 but the 335i can do 3:10.5. BTW, the new M3 laps in 3:05.6.
