However, you do have to be impressed that Shuey turned in the fastest lap of the race and finished 5th despite starting last on the grid (below link).

5th because of retirements, as for the quickest lap we all knew the car was quick but he didn't trust it in qualifying, once a cheat always a cheat he,s been doing it for years but the FIA hadn't the balls to do anything about it until now, funny how in 78 laps he never over run the corner

It amazes me that they felt they had to resort to that sort of tactic to "protect" the pole. Isn't the goal to win the race or to score points? If he started 2nd, he'd have had a much better chance of either winning or finishing higher up than 5th.

Sure, Monday morning quarterbacking is easy but still...

Good point Rudy, but Shuey wouldn't be Shuey if he settled for good enough on anything. He has been dominant for all these years precisely because of this type of behavior.

He has also kicked up dirt on the track during qualifying to slow down his rivals - the guy is just a brutal warrior. Is he a cheater? Probably, but he always pushes the limits and this time he got caught.

There's no doubt in my mind that it was deliberate. He cost Damon Hill a world championship with another "racing accident", there are many other examples. Schumacher is clearly the best driver of his generation, no doubt, but when the pressure is on he is also prone to pulling stunts like this and I'm also pleased to see the race officials had the balls to call this for what it was - cheating. I'm not really that surprised he did this, I'm actually more surprised that he made it look so obvious.

Schuey is clearly the best driver of his time and he have 6 championship to prove that. You might say a he crashed into Damon to win it once but that's still five times which is pretty remarkable if you ask me.

He might do things once in a while that is over the line but sometimes when a player wants to win, they will do those things that gets them there ie. Maradonna using his hand.

He is a great driver and no doubt about that, before his arrival you wouldn't think Ferrari will have a chance to win and contend so give him some credit as he's the world champion with the most starts and most wins and he just need one more pole to tie the great Aryton Senna.
