I just got myself my first ticket this summer..

260 ? because I drove 70 km/h at a 50 km/t road... big road - 4 lanes a summer morning, NO traffic at all!

And the worst: I drove a Audi A3 1.6 (102 hp)?

here a fixed penalty is ?60 or ~ ?100 but 3 penalty points on your licence.....if you reach 12 you get a ban from driving!!

They should do this in the US. All you get is arrested for drivig double the speed limit. That means you have to drive 140+ mph in a 70 mph interstate to get arrested. Even then, you might not get arrested, but ticketed.

Bad luck mate

I saw an unmarked silver 5 series go in the opssoite direction last week on a country road in north Hampshire - and it had $h1t loads of blue lights in the windows/grill/fogs.

Didn't get the type as it went fast away from me in the mirror!

I feel your pain Doc. I was caught on camera a few weeks ago in my Cayenne doing 50 in a 40 limit. It was a mobile camera van (I think they invented the bl**dy things in this county!) which was parked on the opposite side of a dual carriageway. I wasn't aware they could catch you travelling in the opposite direction. A friend of mine was following me in his Range Rover Vogue and was nicked doing 48. The fine doesn't bother me but the points are a real pain in the a$$. My licence had been clean for about 6 months and I had hoped to keep it that way.

With the amount of traffic congestion here now, coupled to speed camera vans popping up on the only unclogged roads, there seems little point in owning fast cars anymore.

they had a really nice video recording system bolted to the centre console....shame it had a film of me going too fast!!!

all said and done, they were pretty decent about it, they could have been nasty and not offered the fixed penalty but insisted in reporting me to the fiscal as I was somewhat faster than I should have been going.

why the hell are urban motorways, deserted at 12:30am, still 50mph limits...

oh well, one down to experience and I've set the audible warning in the car to 50!!!!!
