Ok, EuroCarFan and I began a discussion over in the Mods forum about San Diego night life in the "Very Beautiful Diffuser..." thread. I didn't want to hijack the thread so I am creating a new one dedicated to the nightlife in San Diego. I know, it's nothing compared to LA or SF. I will return shortly... Need to do some work for the next few hours.

List the clubs in SD and provide some details on each, such as type of music, clientelle, dress code, location, hours....etc...

I'll be at the Loews Hotel the first part of my trip in May but will relocate down to either the Omni or the W for a couple days at the end.

 

I love San Diego. Weather is great. Since I don't go to clubs that much anymore I wouldn't know the good clubs to go to there. I believe the Gas Lamp District has a lot of things you can do at night, cool place to hang out

 

I'm going to preface my club selection in that I'm biased towards house and trance music. That being said here are my recommendations for going out in SD. All clubs close at 2am but everyone is escorted/kicked out at 1:30am except for 4 & B which closes at 4am. Cover charge varies from $15 - $25. Jeans are acceptable everywhere, collar shirts is a good idea, play it safe with shoes and do not wear sneakers. Designer sneakers like Diesel or Puma might be okay. Beautiful people everywhere!

* Crudo: new club. 80s, Hip Hop, House.
* Belo: Small crowd. Mashup, sometimes House is not played.
* Thin/Onyx: Funk, Hip Hop, House

Saturday nights:
* Heat: Small but nice setup. Good House music.
* Red C Lounge: FREE cover. Not the best crowd. Excellent House music.
* Belo: Large crowd. Good House, Mashup.
* On Broadway: Same as above but larger crowd.
* Decos: Nice crowd. R&B, 80s, House.
* Thin/Onyx: House and ???

Club Diezel is a rotating production. First time I ever heard them going to SD. Club Rubber is a fixture in Santa Ana. On special occassions they go to SD.

EFC, the weekend you will be there May12th - May 13th, 4&B will be rocking: Tiesto and Paul Van Dyk. According to thedjlist.com website Tiesto is ranked #1 and PVD #2. I will definitely be there either Friday or Saturday. Can only party like a rockstar one night.

EDIT: If g/f allows, will party like rocks stars Friday & Saturday night!

Yeah, Gas Lamp District (GLD) is pretty cool. They have hot valet girls parking cars there now. Apparently, since the weather is getting warmer these valet girls will be wearing less clothing! Hmm...If I ever go to GLD wo g/f, I'll consider having one of these hotties park my car. Maybe not....

 

Duuude! We have the same tastes in the club scene. Only a couple of my coworkers are hanging out with me on the 11th and 12th but I'm going to drag them out to see Tiesto or PVD. I've seen both DJs several times. Tiesto is actually playing at Ruby Skye in SF on May 26th. I'm leaving for Hawaii early the next morning so I was thinking of pulling an all-nighter. haha

The last time I saw PVD was for my birthday in Sep, also in SF at 1015 Folsom. I've also been to the Galaxy Theater where Rubber was based out of and have been to their Pimp n Ho party in Vegas, several years ago at the Mandalay Bay Arena...over 17000 people!!!

Hopefully we can meet up that weekend and both party like rockstars!

 

Hey are the clubs you mentioned located in the GLD?

 

Here's a map of the GLD. On Broadway is on the upper-right hand corner of the GLD on 6th and Broadway. 4th & B is three streets north of GLD. We will definitely have to meet up on May 12th or 13th at 4th & B. Oh, you also have good taste in music!

Also, if you haven't already noticed I changed my avatar to my g/f's pic. She took that picture herself. I'm standing next to her in the afro. It was taken last Halloween at 4th and B when Club Rubber was there. The freaks were out that night!

I scan the pictures from Club Rubber occasonally. You guys are probably on there. I should go check. hahaha

Tiesto on Friday and PVD on Saturday. So, I guess that makes your choice easier? I'm not sure if my clubbing peeps knows that these two will be in SD that weekend. I guess I'll have to get the ball rolling and start emailing people.

That's cool that you still party after being married and having a young son. I hope that I will still be when I'm in your shoes but of course not at the frequency I am right now - almost every weekend! My g/f and I have also gone to LA to go clubbing at Avalon and Circus. Now, those two places know how to party! When we go to LA it's usually with one of her g/f, so I show up looking pimp with two fine ladies by my side.
