My Ride: 2008 550I LOADED, all options except HUD and NV
So Saturday was my sons first birthday party and as the guests started to leave I took my cousin, his fiance, and my mom and headed for my mom's house. SoCal members probably know this area, I went down the 605 to the 91 to go to Buena Park and as I merged onto the 91 and proceeded to switch to the left lane (to get into carpool when it opened up)I noticed a CHP car behind me. A couple of seconds later I saw his lights. I followed his instructions to exit and pulled over.
So the cop comes to the window and first thing he does is compliment the car . He asked me why I was driving like it was worth nothing. I asked what he meant and he mentioned me switching lanes from the time I got o the 91 (my thought was: I was merging left idiot. But luckily I said nothing). So he takes my license registration and insurance and goes to his car to check it out. He tells me to get out of the car and go talk to him - I thought "Oh crap, am I going to jail?" - I know silly thought, but I don't get pulled over often.
He gives me that "follow my finger test" and then asks if I was in the Air Force. I say "Yes, Staff Sargeant - retired". We talk about his Dad's Vietnam experience and he finally tells me: "I don't want to give you a reckless driving ticket, but I already called it in - I have to give you SOMETHING"
I thought: "Dammit!!!!"
He says: "Got a front plate?"
"Yessir"
"Got tinted front windows?"
"Yessir - but the car 'came' like that"
(At this point I realized he wanted to just give me a "fix-it" ticket and send me on my way - in other words he was being really cool)
"Got anything dangling from the windshield "obstructing" your view?"
"I have those Kleenex's hanging from my visor"
"Is it blocking your view?"
"Gimme one second" ( I run to my moms side of the car take the tissue off the visor and put it on the dash)
Officer - "Okay, I see it there. Get that fixed"
I sign the ticket and went on my way. Overall he was pretty cool - a $10 fix it ticket is a lot better than what he was first talking about.

I guess some people think being a veteran is a good thing.

He said I was weaving in and out of lanes (what I was actually doing was trying to get from the right lane entrance to the car pool lane after merging from one freeway to another)
