Thumbs up

My wife and I are going to Barcelona next week and the week after. We've never been before.

Any restaurant recommendations?

Any recommendations for must see sights?

Any recommendations for day trips from Barcelona?

Thanks. We went to Madrid three summers ago and loved it. I have wanted to go to Barcelona for the longest time. I thought we were going this spring but my wife wanted to go to China first so we did.

I have never been closer than Ibiza, and that is not the place to go with the wife (the locals are touchy-feely and the parties go on forever). Have a great trip though - you do realize we will expect pics, right?

I'll bring my little Sony DSC camera. I have a ton of pics from our trip to Beijing and Shanghai which I posted to a Shutterfly site.

Barcelona is a great city. I spent a week there. Just watch out for the pick-pocketing scams that take place on Las Ramblas. It's notorious and they have pretty good scams working there. Keep your money/wallet in your crotch!

Personally, I would jump on the train and spend some time in San Sebastian, Spain. Of all the cities I visited in Spain, San Sebastian was my favorite! You'll probably hear that from many others too.

Have a great trip to one of the best European countries!

Thanks C. How far from Barcelona is San Sebastian by train? Close enough for a day trip. We've been warned about pickpockets. We're staying close to Las Ramblas at the Hotel del Artes. We're excited to go.

See you this Saturday!

Sorry Scott. No travel tips from me. My wife and I planned to go to Spain a few years back, we had plane tickets and hotel reservations. And then the train bombing happened, we cancelled the trip and decided to have 2 kids.

Have a great vacation and let us know how it is.

Sure thing. We loved Madrid. We went there a year or so after the train bombing. We did not take any trains when we were there. We did do a day trip to Toledo which was really nice (but ultra-hot).
