This is the media fueling everything as always. We still have positive GDP as of last quarter and unemployment is no where near even close to great depression levels of 25%. Also let's face the facts that many controls where not in place in the 1929 and subsequent 30's that are in place in today's environment. Yes there is a "crisis" at hand of which we need to address swiftly and surely it will. The unfortunate fact is until some resolution is passed there will be much uncertainty in the markets and our lives. However, all of us should not feed into the media's great depression analogies as all that is going to do is perpetuate panic which is only going to cause further issues. Let's not let history repeat itself and learn from our mistakes.
