Mrs and me going in February for 6 nights. Anyone recommend where to go and what to see? I know she has booked tickets for Alcatraz and has a sight seeing book but unless you live there or visited you always miss something good.

Any suggestion appreciated

cheers

Paul

My wife and I were there in December 2006. Certainly love the area. We went to visit Alcatraz, Lombard St(most crooked street in the world), San Francisco Bridge, Presidio(Nice view of the bridge from that location), Pier 39, China Town, Rainbow Street( where the big gay community)Napa Valley, cable car ride and a few other place but can't remember the name at the moment. Definetely a good place to go. Enjoy!!!

If you like wine, take a day trip to wine coutry (the Sonoma Valley). The best way is to take a bus charter from San Francisco, that way you can enjoy the scenery and give each winery a proper tasting....

Have fun.

There are lots of us on this forum in the Bay Area. Let us know what specific things you want to do, like sight seeing, dining, shopping..etc.. so we can be more specific in our recommendations. Otherwise, the suggestions provided by the others are all really good.

If you want to check out a night club, Temple SF was nice when I went a few months back..there's also Ruby Skyes and Slide if you want to get your groove on.. and if the Mrs. doesn't mind there is Larry Flynt's Hustler gentlemens club..

Make sure you check out the academy of sciences. They just reopened a few months back from renovation that took years and millions of dollars to do, so it should be pretty cool inside and if its sunny stow lake is right next to it, you can rent a little paddle boat and row around the lake and enjoy the scenery with the lady if your'e into that. For shopping I would go to downtown sf, the westfield mall is pretty big and has nice stores inside. Walking across the golden gate bridge is pretty cool too but its probably too cold to do that. You can also rent these two person scooters to ride around town, those are pretty fun. Hope you enjoy your trip
