I can't argue with 18 years experience, but I have done technical consultant work for a corporation whose salesforce wasn't knowledgeable on the product the way you would think they should be. On some levels, this sales mentality still does exist.

Well said. A salesperson who doesn't know what he's selling creates more problems in the end. He may be able to close the deal, but this creates more problems down the road, especially in the Tech/IT industry

Personally, I dont think I could do sales unless I REALLY knew what I was selling inside and out.
I do wish you all looking for jobs the best of luck. My mother is in real estate and currently having a very difficult time. That is as close to home as the recession has hit for me.
