Read a report in Autoexpress about cars fitted with runflat tyres being able to drive over Police stingers and keep going without any difference to performance! So if any of you are thinking of robbing a bank make sure you have runflats

The car was tested after being driven over a stinger at various speeds. They said you could not tell the tyres were punctured.

Yup Tiff Needle on 5th Gear did that test and he even raced it around a track afterwards...

Wow, how long would the tires last after a puncture or with severe air loss?

BTW, this is good info. Next time I'll just run over the strips instead of swerving around them.

I had a puncture on my driver's side rear and ran around on it for 2 days at speed of up to 90 mph (forgot about the puncture to be honest ) with no adverse affect upon handling or performance. I had done around 17,000 miles on the tyres at this point. When the tyre shop took the tyre of to replace it they found a 9 inch...yes you read that correctly... a 9 inch tear in the inner sidewall that could have been there for months. I've no idea how it got there as I don't park up on kerbs etc and the shop manager suspected it may have been there almost since new as it looked like a manufacturing defect. He sent it back to Dunlop for analysis.

These tyres are very, very strong.

Although they make a little more noise (with the current warm temperatures it's hardly more then normal. Only with cold temperatures they are noisy) and some comfortloss I am convinced about the runflats too..

I read a report in a BMW magazine that you kan keep the car under control even if you have 4 flat tires in a high speed manoeuvre..
