Just taking a business trip down to Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Could drive out to the Airport, wait in line, go through the lovely security lines, enjoy the Time cramped in the plane, get some Geo Metro rental car with a total time spent of 4 or more hours to get there. Would also have to pay for the plane ticket and the rental car.

Or I could Drive in my BMW, enjoying the room of the comfort seats, listening to the music, and have my car while down there, and only a drive time of 5 to 6 hours. (Maybe less ) Also get payed for the mileage down there.

Geez, let me think about it. DRIVE

Was wondering if others had decided to drive instead of fly before?

Depends on the distance. My business trips usually are from LA to Baltimore, that's 2000 plus miles. I prefer flying.
Also it's company paid expense, I'll get full size car (not Geo Metro). Budget car rental frequenly give me new cars under 500 miles on it, not a bad deal trying out new cars.

i'm with you, CRRobert.
from norcal i've driven to LA (300+ miles), and one time to vegas (10 hours).
the mileage being paid was just a bonus - i like long drives anyway!

I absolutley love long journeys. The longest i did, last summer, 12 days and 5 days the road. Bucharest-Barcelona and back, but back through Azzure Coast and Italy. Total 6300kms. In 5 days. Kinda tired after that but it worth the trip.

How did you manage with the e60 on those windy italian switchback roads?

I was in a golf IV avant
Now i don't want anything less than an E60 on those kind of journeys. In fact i don't want anything more. Maybe just an M5

I'm too scared to drive my e60 round those mountain roads, when I was there I had a tiny little lancia and saw hardly any large cars.

It would be fun in a hire car though

if the difference between two is less than 3 hours, i'd definitely drive. hate to go through all the security checking in the airport .

CR, the E60 is my preferred travel mode if the trip is not over 800-1200 miles.
