Actually, ours are pretty cool-don't bark much, trained from the get-go. They're fiercely protective of my wife, which is great since I travel a lot. I'd always had Labs growing up, but my wife wanted a small dog, so we compromised. I said I'd be OK with a 25-30 lb. dog so long as it was ugly--nothing foo-foo. A Boston is really just a mix of an English Bulldog and a rat terrier. When their ears stand up, they sort of resemble miniature boxers.

Yeah, Bostons are great little dogs but without training they are out of control just like any other high strung breed. I have them into a routine here and they are getting tons of exercise with my Boxer so they have settled down quite a bit since the day I got them.
