My Ride: 2006 BMW 530xi - Titanium Silver Metallic / Gray Dakota Leather / Dark Poplar Wood Trim / Cold Weather Package / Premium Package / Premium Sound Package / Lumbar Support / Xenon Adaptive Light Control / 6 speed auto - Steptronic Trans. /Sirius Satellite Radio / Voice Activation / Navigation / Moonroof
My brother and his family were in from Sarasota visiting our folks back in southwestern PA, so I took the family down for a weekend visit, and boy was I glad that I did. One of my brother's close friends, who happens to be an unabashed piston head, let my brother borrow his 700+ HP 2008 Porsche wide body 911 Twin Turbo for a few days . . .
I'm told by my brother that his friend had all the modifications done by Porsche (brakes, rotors, tires, inter coolers, interior)so that the car would remain under factory warranty and that the total cost of the car with mods is north of $180K USD.
Needless to say, there was a bit of trepidation on my part when my brother tossed me the keys, but that quickly evaporated as I took the twin turbo monster out on the twisties in and around my parents' abode.
A flick of the sports mode switch on the dash, and the car seemed to lower itself a bit and became definitely stiffer, but that's when the fun began. The car held the road beautifully as I traversed the country roads of Washington County . . . the only complaint I had was that the engine seemed to rumble when under power between 1800 and 2300 RPM . . . the moment the road transitioned from a 2 lane to a 4 lane state highway, I stepped on the accelerator and in an instant the car roared to life and I easily hit 103 on the speedo.
The following morning, I took the beast out on to I-79 and took it up to 110 when an A-8 was attempting to overtake me in the right lane. Tons of fun indeed.
Definitely a trip highlight to be sure, and if anyone is interested, the car can be had for a scant $110K USD.

Was told that car has a top end in excess of 170 (but wasn't going to attempt anything beyond a token splash into the triple digits) . . . to honor the owner's request we kept the tranny in auto as opposed to running through the gears manually with the triptronic and the wheel paddles . . in sport mode, am pretty sure that it was in 4th.

Point taken. I will remember that the next time the keys to that beast are thrown in my direction.

I've done 103 in a Kia spectra in a school zone in the snow while texting.
Jk- the car sounds cool, I wouldn't have been able to contain myself. The car likely gets from 60 to 120 in Like 6 seconds auto mode or not!
