After reading around a bit I am guessing it would cost around $2500 including everything. What is the best way to do this? Any of you guys ever paint a car ?
The "proper" way to repaint an entire car (especially a different color) is to take off and strip every body component to bare metal, remove old paint, treat any rust, then repaint and reassemble. Also, I'd bet Laguna Seca blue is a pretty expensive paint color.

Unless you have a good connection with a body shop - you aren't getting anywhere near this effort for $2500.

Well, it'd upgrade the paint job to be excellent status. What about the rest of the car (engine, interior).
The OP stated that the car's been maintained.

plus bmw paints are a bit harder than say a lexus paint

id imagine a quality multi stage paint job with several layers of clear would start at $5k and go up to $10k
