Thanks everyone.

My family got the reverse 911 call around 8PM monday. We had done some light packing during the day , but went into overdrive for the next 20 minutes. All that mattered was that our 2 boys , a few prized possessions (pictures mainly) , and my wife and I were safe. Fortunately, our city is doing a tremendous job, and with the advance precautionary evacuations order and calm remains.

We live in Carmel Valley, about 7 miles from the western tip of where the Witch fire touched Rancho St Fe, and were released to come back home less than a day after we left. Unbeleiveable relief for us, but what heartache for many in our surrounding communities.

Hopefully the weather will continue to calm down and that wonderful cool on shore flow will return, helping our fire fighting heroes.

It was harder for me being away from the family. I was constantly on the phone getting updates from the Mrs. Our navy fliers came to the rescue when the Santa Ana winds
died down a little bit. The evacuation orders were lifted yesterday. My family's safe now. I'll be back in San Diego in November. Thanks.

My deepest sympathies to those who live out there and have lost. Stay strong and god bless because this only goes to show how vulnerable we are to the elements and nature.
