I just read today that some bits were not actually 'real' My jaw dropped to the floor when I saw the opening flaming footsteps fireworks - but today I read that was actually special effects for TV and the stadium screens, it didn't actually happen. That aside what a fantastic show.

On the NBC broadcast here in the US, the commentators did explain that the footsteps along the city were animated -- even so, it was a cool idea and the effect was really neat to see...

I love to know were you got the info from.
you know that China has the most people on the planet so they don't need to fake it.
Any country can do this too, it not that hard just need time, no need to fake it.
you also know that they took 13 months to get this Olympic Opening Ceremony spot on.
you know that if it is true China will be in deeeeeeeeeep $hit

As I said above, in the US, the NBC broadcast mentioned the footsteps were computer animation.

If you put the words -- beijing opening ceremony footsteps -- into Google, you'll find a ton of additional articles and reports about the "faked" footprints. To me, it really didn't diminish the ceremony much at all. Sure, if they were real I would have been even more impressed but to be honest, it wasn't a big deal to me that they were animated...
