I love this thread. It is a playlist for my favorite old scool hip hop stuff. My favorites are NWA's Staight Outta Compton and assorted Tupac and Biggie Stuff. Dr. Dre's The Chronic is also among the best in this genre.
For me it's been a "be careful what you wish for" thread. There are far too many (no doubt very good) suggestions that I'll need to go and find and listen to because the songs I know on here that I like, are from people who've suggested lots of songs I don't know, but I would probably like. I guess youtube is the best source for finding them.

Has to be Ice-T for me, definately my fave 90's rap 'Thats how i'm livin'. His spin off rock band Body Count was outstanding, best concert i ever went to.

I also quite like DMX, DMX's voice was made for rap.

I don't think of DMX as old school but I sure think that "Where Tha Hood At" is a classic.

That's why the best DMX stuff is on Ruff Ryders Vol 1,2,& 3 (Vol 4 kinda sucked)

Also, if you want a departure from the mainstream hip-hop of today you can try Nappy Roots - good music and not the stupid BS too common today. Let's kill all this "ring tone rap"
