You know, if someone - a company, a government, an "entity", basically - is gonna drill under water, shouldn't it be a regulation - a VERY STRICT regulation at that - providing that the entity MUST unequivocally have the plan in place to contain any and all problems that may occur in the process of drilling!!!

I cannot stress this enough IMO: if you're gonna drill, have a concrete working plan on clean up. Have it so that it is quick and painless. This should have NEVER happened. NEVER!

Thank you very much for your attention.

This oil spill shit is going to affect everything! Vacationing, fisherman, travel, and more important our environment.
Its a damm shame this even happened and I agree with Vlad there should have been stricter rules and regulations incase this did happen. Its pathetic how slow the clean up and fix has been. It seems the U.S runs to the rescue for every other country, but our own.

Before a tragedy like this we suspect that there are too many regulations.

After a tragedy like this we suspect that there were too few regulations.

Regulations evolve from experience. AKA Hind Sight

And then we again have too many regulations ? until the next tragedy.

Hmm, where are all the "Drill baby drill" morons now? Paging Ms. Palin
This is ridiculous that so many of our countries poorest are being affected by some of the richest and greediest. The environment will take years to fix and BP will undoubtedly escape without paying the bill - we will, the taxpayers. It's not even just BP, no surprise Haliburton is involved - and who's one the board there? Non other than Dick (a more appropriate first name there has never been)Cheney.

Cheney left Haliburton in 2000. So, do you also think this accidient was Bush's fault?

Nope, I don't, it is a failure of the Government as a whole to properly regulate industries that can cause these types of catastrophes. Now, the fact that Republicans are usually the ones pushing hard for less regulation doesn't help. And even though Cheney left Haliburton he is still a major stock holder and was instrumental in him and his cronies winning huge contracts for Haliburton in Iraq and Afghanistan - thus making himself a tidy profit too.
