hey guys, i need some advice. my dad got caught for speeding 14mph over on his way back home from Syracuse, NY. now we never been caught for speeding in NY state so this is new to us. it seems we need to fill out this form which states we either plead guilty or not guilty. there's no fine involved so what happens next?

uhh if you dont want to go to court to defend your case, plead guilty and pay the penalty. The penalty should be listed on the ticket or on the back should have violations listed with price. Make sure the ticket dosent have the "has to show up at court" cheked. If all else fails check out nys.dmv.org and call the number up to get more info. Hope this helps

there surely is a fine involved, it should be noted somewhere on the ticket, otherwise it may be a court appearance mandatory...

no such thing in NY as a no-fine speeding ticket...28MPH over the limit got me about $600 in penalties as a reference point

boo dad got gunned down with this POS http://www.stalkerradar.com/law_dual.shtml. anyhow, so i called the town court. basically because there is no fine on the ticket is they have to wait for us to plead guilty in order for them to set a fine. weird! why not just give me the fine in the 1st place like we do here?! it's like a suspense movie! are there usually points involved when speeding in NY? so the estimated fine is roughly $145-155 for doing 14MPH over... d'oh!

You could also plead not guilty and then negotiate a specific fine / violation over the phone or by mail. I did this with a ticket I received in upstate NY and had an 83mph in a 65mph zone reduced to a no point "parking on the pavement " violation and $100 fine.

Rip up the ticket and run back across the border before they catch you.
