The GTR never was the fastest production car around the Nurburgring. It most probably had the best combination of price and lap time out there, but other production cars are (and were) faster.

Agree! But somehow the Nissan GTR got shrouded in a myth of being able to smoke almost anything on the streets (not necessarily on a track) due to an extraordinary chassis and very well set-up. Even though it weighs more than it's rival (911 Turbo) in most of the tests, including a 911 GT3 head to head, the GTR murdered them all. One of the key feature that the drivers appreciate is the way the GTR can drive around corners, being able to keep up speeds with so much ease. Most of the drivers concluded that driving VERY fast in the GTR is just so easy to do, even for the not so experimented drivers, so that's why it's regarded by many as the "fastest" road car.

Sure - here you go:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N?rburgring_lap_times

It lists the best times for production and non-production cars.

I think the 2010 Turbo with PDK will shortly re-establish the right order.

I think so too. It better will.

Sincerely, I wouldn't know on what car to bet : GTR V-Spec or 2010 Turbo with PDK.
