Nikon D80 or save up for D90/D300s

My friend is selling his old setup for $800 or should I save up for a Nikon D300s. He just got a Nikon D700 and 70-200mm lens. Spent around $8k on his whole setup. 
Time to upgrade to a better camera. Don't like the Olympus I currently own.
I've read C's thread and most of you recommended the D90. My friend told me the D90 has a bug. So I'm deciding on whether I should go for the D80 or go for the D300s. Is the D80 too old?

I LOVE my D90. It's a sick camera. My CEO has the D80 and wishes he had the D90. Get the D90. The key is the 18-200 VR II Lens. DPReview gives it VERY high marks. That's my next purchase...for $800.

Or, save up and get the 300S. BTW - There are rumors that the D95 is coming out soon...

The deal will always be there. He's not in a hurry to sell.
I've shot a few shots with my friends D700 with the 70-200mm lens.
