Saw this thread on E90post.

These new license plate design looks like crap. We need to sign the license plate re-issue change petition.

Quote from the article

"The much talked about "new" New York State license plates were unveiled on Tuesday by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles Commissioner, David Swarts. The "Empire Gold" plates will be issued to most drivers in April of 2010.

"The bold colors of the new license plate reflect New York's force and its resilience," said Commissioner Swarts in a statement issued on Tuesday afternoon. "These new plates, in the official colors of the State of New York, will help maintain highway safety, reduce the number of unregistered and uninsured vehicles on our roads, and generate $129 million in General Fund revenue over two years, which will help address the State's financial crisis."

Each driver with a registered vehicle will need to spend $25 to get the new mandatory plates. A few county clerks, including Kathy Hochul from Erie County are opposed to the mandate. They have started an on-line petition to prevent the change from taking place."

Reminds me of the old, old, old NY State plates. I guess we're going retro with the license plates now. Too bad these colors don't match my car.
