Even if it's all Java, it could still be running on some adaptation of a Windows-CE type platform from Microsoft, and would still make use of functions the operating system provides. The reference to Java appeared in one place, so that reviewer could have been mistaken, too -- we simply have no confirmation of what I-drive is really written in or running on (two distinct aspects).

Agreed. I think the earlier thread argued that the thing was 100% Java. I'm pretty sure I remember reading that the 7-series uses Windows CE for the OS so I figured I'd make a joke about the whole MS instability when I saw kigerka's picture of the green HUD.

No matter what the software is running, I'm still willing to bet that the glitch that kigerka experienced is just one of those things that is fixed by a reboot...

I agree with both of you. I know too that 7er iDrive was based on WinCE. However, as I am not aware of a Sun or Microsoft java virtual machine for WinCE, I was having doubts that if this is Java in 5er, as in article we all read (posted in another thread), then probably no Microsoft code around.

As for Microsoft jokes... No problem with me... People are entitled to opinions and expressing them. If they are good, everybody enjoys them...

As for the kigerka's problem, I wonder if he experienced it again, or if he checked with his dealer.

I think it had something to do with possible sun reflection and camera settings. It was never green except when I flashed the picture. I actually would not mind the green setting. Except when driving in grass.

So we were solving an inexistent problem, right? :bashwall:
Anyway, orange (reflextion) is the answer...

That would be correct. Hoever it was interesting reading on all of your theories.

It was just a coincidence.
