Why get all worked up? It's a form a flattery that they like to compare against the BMW. I can't remember how many times someone came out with a "BMW killer" for either the 3-er or 5-er and year after year it's the same story.

Cadillac is still a GM pos, not a refined Bimmer... however the new cts-v gave the m5 a good run, and bang for buck its unbeatable...
Actually the CTS-V won the two comparos against M5, I have read. Faster 0-60, 1/4 mile, braking, skidpad, slalom, laptimes.

The CTS-V is not f*cking around. It has the fastest production sedan "ring" time for a reason.

But is it a BMW? No didn't think so lol.

I actually really like the CTS, especially the V. If I ever bought an American Car I would buy a CTS.

"Is it a BMW", no, it just performs better than a BMW.

It isn't a car for badge whores.

Ok I have heard that it is a great car but that handling is still awarded to the M5.
I would much rather drive a car that is bursting with class.
The CTS-V has class. But come on your talking about a BMW.

BMW = THE PERFECT MATCH OF CLASS/STYLING/PERFORMANCE

People define performance differently. I'm not a badge whore by any means. I'm very skeptical of any American car made today when there is only short term goals for the brand. Show me the same American car in 5 years and it's falling apart. Perhaps the CTS is different but I'll take the conservative route and wait to see. The CTS is ugly (personal opinion). And if it's not available with a manual transmission I won't even consider it for a sport sedan.

When I think of American cars I think of misguided application. SUVs with independent suspensions, V6 engines, sport cars with solid rear axles, 3-4 speed automatic transmissions, and the list goes on. I realize the CTS isn't in that category but the Lincoln LS is still fresh in my mind of recent 'BMW killers.'
