I have a little 15 year old Acura that I use for commuting. Great car with great gas mileage. The bi-annual inspection was up, so I took it in for renewal. If you live in NJ, you know it's PIA to wait in line for the state inspection. Anyway, long story short - My car fails the inspection, nothing mechanical or safety related.
The stuff that cause the failure are: One of the highbeams decided to burn out right there on the spot, a small nip/crack on the windshield and the last thing was the aftermarket pedals (brake and gas) being not DOT approved which I found it ridiculous. They were installed like 10 years ago, and never had a problem.
Anyway, its an old car and I don't want to spend more time or money on it. I need a shop that would overlook those minor issues (i.e., windshield and pedals). Of course, I will replace the highbeam bulb. I'd appreciate if anyone local has any recommendation.

Paying off a shop to overlook failed items (no matter how minor) is not likely to happen. And if they are willing they might really rip you off.
Anyway, it might be cheaper to have your windshield repaired (if it's a chip or small crack these shops can do a great job for about $50); then pick up a pair of used pedals from a wrecked Honda/Acura ... probably another $20. (or check, the originals might be under the knock-off pedals). Often they clip on to the regular pedal pads. The HighBeam bulb is probably a pretty standard 9003 halogen - - about $7 at Wally World!
Then go back thru another NJ Inspection shop http://www.state.nj.us/mvc/Location/FindCounty.htm for free.

Thanks Luigi.
The others can be taken care of, the spare parts are there, its just time consuming. The windshield crack is the biggie, I might need to look around for a good repair shop.
