True, very true. Especially near big cities there is a 100, 120 or 130 max. speed. Outside the Cities it's looking for the white sign with three stripes wich means no more speedlimits and floor it. It's so cool driving over 200 km/h and all the traffic (except the trucks) is going almost as fast as you are. Yesterday I drove 235 km/h and there was a Nissan in front of me that I could barely overtake because this guy was driving his 10 year old car with at leas 220 km/h.
In holland I could only do 100 or 120 km/h. It felt really slow!

Although I am not living in Germany, I do a lot of driving there, annually around 10.000-15.000 km. There are a lot of speed restrictions indeed, many related to noise.
Anyway, on a recent NG documentary, IIRC they were saying that from 12.000 km of Autobahn there are only 3.000 not speed restricted. It is VERY nice nonetheless.

The myth that there is no speedlimit is actually not wrong. We don't have a generall speedlimit, but local restrictions...
I think, it's less than 3000 without any speed limit...
Anyways, some speed limits are only "when wet" (bei N?sse), some are only for night time...
For everybody who is doing ED - have enough money with you. If they stop you, you have to pay at the spot or you're not going anywhere. If you don't have money, the police escorts you to the nearest ATM. AND: since yoiur license can't be taken away from you by the German police, all fines are doubled!
BTW, that pics Kigerka posted are showing the "Elzer Berg" on A3 (direction Frankfurt, coming from Cologne). Those cameras are also checking the distances between the cars...
It is Germany's "oldest" radar trap, and they still make a lot of money each day...

if the cameras are there permanently in that spot, why would people still speeding? they are there only for the tourists and people not familiar with that area ?
