From the first midnight screenings, the film has earned $18.5 million and has set a new midnight debut record beating Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith which earned $16.9 million.[105] On its opening day, July 18, 2008, The Dark Knight set a single-day box office record of $67.85 million, breaking a record of $59.8 million previously held by Spider-Man 3.[106] The film also surpassed the $151.1 million opening weekend record of Spider-Man 3 with an estimated opening of $158.4 million, including a record breaking IMAX opening of $6.2 million, surpassing the $4.7 million of Spider-Man 3.[107] The Dark Knight sold 22.37 million tickets with today's average administration of $7.08 meaning The Dark Knight sold more tickets than Spider-Man 3 which sold 21.96 million with the average price of $6.88 in 2007.[108

It was an amazing movie. Heath Ledger did a fantastic job as joker. Unbelievable. Due to ticket prices being more back when Spidey 3 was out it may not have truly beaten it, but maybe the verdict is true.

Based on the reports I saw on Monday there were indeed approximately 200,000 extra ticket sales so it's not just due to the higher average ticket price.

+1 on Heath Ledger - it was a great performance.

outstanding.....astonishing....ravishing.....out of this world performance by Heath. ITS TRULY OMMMGGGGG...

the movie is sooo good, that you guys are gonna laugh at me. When my gf and I finished the movie, we went ouT,bought new tickets and watched it again. He's sooooo talented and sooooooooo funnny..WHEN U GUYS WATCH IT, watch out for the part of how HE does a magic trick with A KNIFE.hahahaha.plus when he blows up something and looks funny all dressed up.HILARIOUSSS.

extremely talented actor. LUV THE NEW BATMAN. ITS ISSSS TRULY THE BLOCKBUSTER OF THE SUMMER
