Funny how they talk about CA being able to roll the windows down from the fob when in reality, non-CA cars can do it too!

They did say up AND down.....I think I have only been able to roll my down or up, I cant remember in any case I can only do 1 or the other, not both. So I guess I am only half spoiled..

I do have 2005, so I dont know if they changed that feature for both on the newer models

Lol! For US-spec non-CA cars, simply hold down the door unlock button for a few seconds. The windows will open partially, pause fo a sec, then start to roll down fully. If you continue to hold when the windows are down, the sunroof will open. Closing everything involves inserting the key into the door lock, turn to lock and hold. Even some E46's have this feature.

Correct but one more detail to add...

If you have CA, you can close everything by touching (and holding) the door handle in the area that locks the car.

(Also, to reiterate, outside of the USA, your mileage may vary. Most other countries allow the remote closing from the key fob.)

Actually, this has been a feature of many BMW models for at least 20 years now. I can't remember if my E24's had it but my 1989 535i certainly did. As did my 1999 M Roadster.

I don't think it's that simple. I imagine that to do this to the software, you can't just change one parameter. Instead, you have to load a version of the software that as the feature. In other words, if you're in the USA, you'd have to install a European version of the software to make the windows roll up. The problem is that installing that version of the software on a US car will likely cause other problems...
