Looks Like the HD Format Battle is Over...

Warner Brothers is going Blu-Ray exclusive. I think that leaves only Paramount and Dreamworks exclusively on HD-DVD. Although this press release has no mention of New Line -- the other studio under the Time Warner umbrella.

Whatever anyone does, DO NOT buy the LG or Sammy Dual Format players. Neither of these players output TrueHD or DTS-HD MA like they claim. The LG also does not output 24fps like it also claims. I was furious, after they both clearly market both new players as doing all of the above. Shame on LG and Sammy! They are supposedly coming out with firmware updates for both players, but it's a load of crap (LG just pulled their latest firmware update off their site) and for $1000 (I believe they are now $800 though), that's quite a rip off. I ended up returning my LG BH200 after 2 weeks of owning it and went with the Tosh A35 and the Panny BD30. According to AVSforum, these are the 2 best players for the money and the features, if you must have 2 players to play both formats (which is of course, a must for me . I'm running both players into the first 2 inputs on my receiver, my xbox360 elite into my 3rd and running the cab/sat direct into my 2nd hdmi input on my tv with a digital optical out into my receiver (I now wish my receiver had 4 inputs ). I've been watching both formats non-stop in TrueHD, DTS-HD MA and Uncompressed 5.1, when available. I LOVE it!
Anyway, sorry to hijack this thread...

I was sure this will happen. In 2 years people will never remember hddvd
That would be sad... especially if Bluray studios don't include the best audio tracks. One thing HD-DVD did right was mandate the inclusion of Dolby TrueHD on all titles.
I hope the Sammy BD-UP5000 gets a firmware upgrade to enable more than 2 channel TrueHD/DTS-HD MA. At less than $800, it's a real steal considering it has HQV.
I still think the smart play is to get a universal player. Netflix has 400 HD-DVD rental titles and 450 Bluray titles. Considering there isn't a ton of overlap, you're talking a big increase in available library by being able to play both.

it dose not matter any more who win or loss cos companys are designing duel players and there are 2 out already.
So for me I say who care who win as long as the mashine surport both formats.
