Alabama and several other states have had "move over for faster traffic" laws on the books for years, just now they finally started enforcing them.
Also We have another law that passing Snails to the right is also ok, along with impeding the flow of traffic is a ticket able offense... GtFOotW! When I lived in Atl it was far worse than here, I could not imagine DC, DFW,Chi, or LA.

Oh LA is TERRIBLE for this, people here seem to have no idea where they are going half the time. Makes me miss NJ more and more, at least in NJ on 95 they had a law that said left lane was for PASSING ONLY and they would pull people over for staying there - the result was that the left lane was usually empty and clear for passing, it was great.

yep, most fat americans have no concept of lane discipline. the chp will nail you for going 10 over, but have no problem with fat americans in the left lane going 10 under.
i've ridden with people that just sit in the left lane going the speed limit or just under, and when i say something about it they either seem confused or get defensive. its the american "i own the road" mentality. they don't even notice that they are holding up traffic. in europe holding up the left lane will more likely get you a ticket than speeding. that is one part of european culture that i sure wish we would adopt. the few times i've driven in europe i was amazed at how quickly the car in front of you makes an effort to move to the right.
i got a ticket a few years ago for tailgating because i was trying to push a guy out of the leftlane that was going 50 in a 65.....in a beat up POS minivan. when i saw the lights i knew what was going on. the chp occifer told me i was being an aggressive driver and that he could impound my car but he would just let me off with a ticket. it was 190 bucks...the moron in the minivan just kept on going in the left lane, he had every opportunity to move right, but never did, several cars passed him on the right as i was getting lit up and looking for a good place to pull over and get my ticket.
makes me crazy.

I was driving home at 9:30 the other night and I was going 80 in the fast lane. Two different people that night got on my butt and flashed their brights. WTF! Am I driving too slowly?

I usually average around 80-85mph on the freeway but if someone's coming up faster behind me, I will pull over to let them pass. It's simple courtesy.

I have only gone slow in the left lane once, and there was a reason. One morning when I was coming to work I was in the left lane on the freeway, I glance in my mirror and I see the top half of the hood of a Dodge Charger - he was so lose to my rear (and I was travelling quickly) that I could not see the front of his hood much less his headlights. So what did I do? Got off the gas and coasted until I was doing, literally, 35 mph - if you're going to be an asshole I can be one too ![Thumbsup](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/thumbsup.gif)
