I hear you. Frankly, the cult of celebrity is out of control.

Although, the Federal Government is no better when in comes to waste. No offense to anyone in the military, but do we really need the Blue Angels? How do they benefit me as a citizen? Are they necessary for defense? Do we really need military fly-overs at the Super Bowl or some NASCAR race? How much does that cost every year?
+1 Granted the flyovers do cost way too much considering they usually fly for a couple of hours to be over the stadium or racetrack for what? 3 seconds max? The military is far from the most wasteful though, like when we diverted Homeland Security $$$ from NYC to some trailer park in Kansas, because it was the "states oldest trailer park" yeah like some terrorist is targeting ANYTHING in Kansas, really?

flyovers must stay...they are awesome and one of my favorite things. stealth bombers are so amazing to see in person.

but wasting money on the king of pop/chi mo is gross. the state of california is broke yet they shell out cash like this.....nice local government.

No chance they'll get near em. So spending additional $$$ to protect what the military already does is pointless.

Aside of the whole MJ deal, this is just the perfect example what goes on here in Cali (as well as LA): bureaucracy at it's best....people love to talk about the problems (and point them out), but don't have the gonads to do anything about it for fear of not being reelected for the next term. This is just a representative of a more deep rooted problem with the whole political system here in Cali. Another by-product is the high sales tax rates that we have...here in the greater LA area, I think we have now surpassed NYC for the highest sales taxes in the country: 10.25%+...
