Some of you are missing two pretty important points.

1) The S-Type is a decent handling car (it's built on essentially the same chassis as the new XF, which also acquits itself well in the handling department)

2) This was clearly a track novice behind the wheel. A novice can and will spin any car. Not a lot of point criticizing the car when the primary cause of the accident here was driver error. The guy just overcooked it heading in to the corner.

I have to agree, somewhat, the driver's skill was definitely lacking. He completely misjudged the turn.

As I do yours. I do have to confess that I have something of a soft spot for Jaguar!

I used to like them, but my mom had a V12 XJ coupe when I was in High School. She had it 18 months, it was in the shop at least 8 of those. She got rid of it with 6000 miles on it after 18 months and in Denver that is REALLY low miles. Besides, who makes a V12 with 235 HP, seriously.

At the same time my dad had the MB 560SEC and THAT was a badass car, fast as hell and NEVER broke.

Smart airbags only deploy when needed - they weren't here, so they didn't deploy. The car operated exactly as designed. Both occupants were fine, and the airbags not deploying significantly reduced the repair cost (assuming the car was repairable).

That goes without saying, it was quite obvious.

I can definitely see a soft spot for the older Jags, I have driven the E-Type (My dad's friend had one) and it is one hell of a car, a real treat to drive. Just the newer ones? Eh, I'll pass.

I agree. Any car can be rolled -- yes including our E60s -- if driven too fast into a turn. Of course, if the skid control is on, it takes a really stupid driver or a tremendous error in judgment to happen. No car is above the laws of physics, even with skid control on.
