Hi guys,
I justed returned from a very nice weekend down in Munich.
The advanced drivers training was a great experience.
We were a group of eight people with one instructor.
After a breakfast and some theory of road-vehicle dynamics, we started with the practical driving exercises on BMW 330i's.
We practiced the most important risk and stress situations that occur on the roads and practiced braking, avoidance and use of the emergency lanes. We learned the effects of under- and oversteer in realistic road conditions and learned how to ensure road safety when these effects occur.
Offcourse they served lunch, and a snack at the end of the training. At the end we've got a certificate.
This was really fun and now I'm allready planing on doing the intensive training.
I can highly recommend these drivers trainings, what they also do in english.
Here is what I would do on ED: Pick up car in Munich, attend drivers training, then drive down south and drive through the Alps, then after break-in period I would test drive on "The Ring" and I would drive towards Frankfurt through the Taunus and over the Feldberg to drop my car off.
Anyways, a day at the drivers training center (what is on Munich's airport, right in between two hangars) is really a great experience and FUN, FUN, FUN.

This posterwall gives you a little impression how huge the testing area is.
We were three groups in cars and one motorbike group, and we allways had enough space and were never doing drills too close to another group (notice the aircraft on the upper right in the picture, on taxiway, I believe a Boeing 747 or an Airbus 340, since it has two engines on each wing):

I forgot to say that on their 330i's the BFD was activated, and since we practiced emergency braking I had a chance to see it.
When you hit the brakes hard, so that the ABS gets activated the brake lights switch on and after about a second the taillights light up very bright. Very good to see and it takes a little while for them to light up, so that the car that is following you really notices the difference. I assume it's the same on the E60.

Hi Iceman... I did a similar course with BMW NA on the Z4 late last year... It's amazing doing the DTC/DSC off drives AGAIN with the safety features back on.
Oh memories of living in Munich... Next to the Fahrer Training center is the BMW run airport service - which is a standard BMW service center... What a wonderful concept that is alien here in the US!
