I am planning to attach a Garmin StreetPilot on the windscreen. Is there a rule in California prohibiting anything sticking on to the windscreen, even a suction cup?

I think most states have some sort of law that deals with obstructing the driver's view.

I think you'll find that it's one of those things that isn't enforced unless the cop is looking to pad the violation list. I doubt you'd get pulled over for having it suctioned to the windshield unless the officer suspected you were doing something else...

I've had my V1 attached with suction cups for some time now, and never had a problem--even when pulled over twice... It's above & to the right of the rear view mirror, so doesn't obstruct my view at all. If you placed the GPS system closer to your field of vision, you might have an issue, not sure--you might want to check www.dmv.ca.gov to be sure.

Sure it is state by state, but for awhile in Virginia Beach, I had so many government mandated stickers on my windshield that it more than blocked what a GPS, Radar detector and Toll pass (E-Pass or Sun Pass in Florida) system would block
