I realize I'll probably get my rear kicked for this but I do feel sorry for the 2 Northwest Airline pilots who lost their licences because they overshot the airport. Why couldn't the authorities just suspend them for a while or fine them. I'm pretty sure they will never do this again.

BTW I play on my computer and sleep while at work!

Do you want to be in an airplane which is flown by those two clowns?

Clowns indeed!

That is unless they were browsing our forums during the flight...if so, then I completely understand and forgive them!

I don't feel sorry for them, but I'm still on the fence as to the punishment they should receive. On the one hand, the flight eventually got landed and all was fine. On the other, they could've gotten themselves in a serious situation where lives could've been lost. Now, in the unlikely event the plane crashes there are casualties and the pilots survive, I believe the public would've been reeling for these guys to have their licenses revoked and obvious imprisonment.

So is it a matter of well the plane landed safely and no one was hurt, so let them off this time? Or make an example out of them to ensure this behavior doesn't occur?

+1...I think you would be more willing to get them fired if it was you on that plane...

Guys, I don't feel any mercy with them, bc I tell you something:

As a pilot you have to be concentrated all the time, what if the ATC(Air traffic Control) sent them informations about other airplanes that crossed their flight route? what about any unforseen event? there is a warning unit in the cockpit that warns you if there are any other airplanes in the near, they could have overhearde it too..who nows..

Happily no one was hurt and everything went fine, but who nows what have could happened if...
