On Friday evening a severe thunderstorm went across Frankfurt and left hundreds of flooded basements and subway stations... While I've spent the day about 330 Km up northwest in Bielefeld, I had no clue at all what was happening at home.
I've just entered the Autobahn in Bielefeld to drive back home when my neighbour called to tell me the basement is under water. The water came right through the foundation of the house and was about knee deep with mud and sand all over the place.
Now, that's bad news... And you would expect that you react shocked, angry or something like that... But not when you're driving an E60 545iA.
My first reaction ? I said to my self that I'm so lucky my car wasn't in Frankfurt...
Car nut, or what ???
The pic below shows Offenbach, about five minutes from my home...

Wow...
Last year at this time we experienced the hottest summer ever in Germany with temperatures up to 41 degrees celsius (this is around 110 degrees fahrenheit). That wasn't a summer, that was hell...
This year we allready had two tornados and severe thunderstorms (last weekend the rain averaged almost 60 liters per square meter in a minute - about 1.5 gallons per square yard a minute). Now, this is the other side of the hell...
What's wrong with our summers ???

I think the weather is screwed up all over the world. It's raining now as if it was April or May.

No way !
You know what... I worked for Greenpeace a couple years and have been their local press spokesman...
Today I drive a 545iA and own a travel agency. Flying is even worse than driving...
I really would like to save the planet, but I'm definately not walking when doing it...
