If you can hear that, I know where there are some .50 caliber machine guns that will correct your problem.

I'm officially OLD. I listened to the mp3 before reading the article. I didn't hear a thing. Did this several times, nothing, nada, zilch. Made sure my speaker were at full volume. Tried again, nothing. Opened iTunes and played BeeGees "Staying Alive", yeah heard that quite well. Okay, decided to finally read the article. Now I know why I can't hear anything, it's ultrasonic.

I think my hearing has deteriorated listening to all the House/Trance music for too many years too loudly.

Not sure about Winamp. But there is something to hear. I didn't hear it at first either but my wife and kids looked at me with a look of pain and told me to "turn that off!" Once I turned up the volume I got what they were talking about.

Make a right click on the spectrum analyzer and then select Osciloscope in the menue that pops up. You will be able to see it in the Osciloscope. It's not shown in the spectrum analyzer.

hmm. ok so does this mean that i'm not old. i couldn't hear it on my mac but i did hear a faint high pitch tone on my pc.

decided to test it out on my wife (same age as me) and she confirmed the same thing. true test came when i tested it out on my 18 month old and she couldn't hear it on my mac but heard it on my pc. what gives?!

My family heard it on our G5 iMac and I had no problems on my Quad PowerMac. I didn't expect the iMac to play that sound well since the speakers face down but they could hear it. I was also playing it on my 15" PowerBook at work the other day and had a guy (same age as me) right next to me unable to hear it but people down the hall asked if I knew what that horrible sound was.

I could only hear that annoying high pitch coming out of the speakers, of course with the volume turned up pretty high.
