Hi
Isn't it...
Top tip - go test drive low mileage 3 year old CL500 (or for less cash??? the CL600) with all conceivable options .. They are the same price as a new CLK(gutless/ugly)200.. talk about slick.. they are fantastic but be prepared for the fuel consumption.. i managed to rack up a bank accunt shattering 11mpg on the test drive of mixed a/b roads and about 30% motorway.. driving quite reasonably most the time..

but boy do they fly...!

Mmmmm. CL600 :-) Lovely! I traded my new-shape E Class for the E60 but thought about sticking with Merc. They are, in my opinion, lovely cars.

In fact I think the interior styling of the E Class is actually nicer than the E60 - I prefer the dash and centre console on the E.

Ahh the "stealth bomber" as my wife calls it.. it is a 2001 Lotus Exige vhpd 190, (Rover engine),. Black met paint, black powder OZ splits, black windows, carbon fibre wing + lips, cat bypass, black tints, quad throttle bodies. 205bhp rrt. .. Alas imminently to be converted along with a Honda CRV into a Merc Coupe for my wife...

But i will be looking for something else to fill the gap in the garage, considering a Vauxhall VX220 turbo.. any views ?

I have bought my last 6 cars frm Benham in Stockport.. i tried bluebell once but got a less than helpful reception from them.. how do you find them ?

190 K series eh! How's it been? I've a couple of mates with 190 340Rs and both of them went pop If you ever get chance have a bash in a Honda engined Elise / Exige / 340R.... truely nuts

VX220 would be a good call. I'd have one . I do prefer the look of the S2 Elise but the engine would be a better bet than a K series. I have heard odd things about the set up of the turbo (handling wise) by all accounts it's heavier and sprung more softly so what it gains in power it looses in handling. I guess it's only really an issue if you intend to track it. Take a look at http://www.vx220.org.uk/ there is loads info on there.

Blue Bell are ok. I've had 3 cars from them and, as you suggest, sales wise they're a bit iffy. However i know most of the service department from running E30 M3s on track with them. Having a service manager and a some of the techs as mates is VERY helpful in getting things sorted and great loan cars.

West Kent (near Surrey/Sussex borders)

I suggested a meet before Xmas. Lots were interested. FlowerFred arranged it. And no Brits turned up. Just an Aussie, a Dutch guy, and a couple of Yanks.

Would be nice to have a good lineup of E60s.

To jump in a little late on the "Essex" angle... was born in Rochford, lived in Hockley, did A Levels in Southend :-) Ahhhh... the wasted hours "down the arcades"!

Is TOTS still there?

Hi Baron

The website you posted is run by my friend John Thorne who is also known as Thorney Motorsport. Have a look at his extreme X5 site: www.ultimatex5.com. He's marketing my SMG wheel conversion...

All the Best
