same here, how did it go? I was under the wrong impression also I thought the files were on the PC and you needed to get them on the mac. The sad part is that I don't have an excuse like Znod, no percocet next to me

Sorry, I'm late to the show, but here's what -I'd- do...
DL some kind of VM "machine", Parallels, VMware, whatever.
Install the tiniest Linux build you can as a virtual machine, and locate the VM image on the portable drive - but you would be able to invoke it while you are in Mac OS X. Run a Samba server on the linux machine and mount the SMB share as a mapped drive. You should be able to make the VM look as if it's on FAT32 if memory serves. You can usually configure the "file" that represents the virtual environment so that it can grow dynamically to accomodate the size of the files you need to move/copy/store. It has been many many years since I have played with virtual machines though so I could be wrong on some of the details here.
You would likely need to build or at least "place" (write) the virtual image onto the drive under another OS, but this should be possible.
