Spooky that on Friday I posted a guess-the-car of a Matra that I'd googled the pic for. I haven't seen one in 20 years and I saw one today in mint condition.

I didn't noticed that.
A little earlier in this thread we were searching for a Holden.
I was looking at so many pics of Holdens that this was pretty easy to find out/remember.

Correct, its a Bristol type 403.
To the best of my knowledge, after the war, some of the German companies' designs were shared around the allies, which included the design for the 501/2, which ended up with the Brits at Bristol motor company, hence the designs looking so similar. Even though I come from Bristol, I still prefer the BMW!
