Absolutely incredible performance on the GT-R, it's just stellar, but it is one truly horrific looking motor vehicle. Just awful.

it suits very well in the modern cities (eg tokyo), but i must admit it is not the best looking car around

If you remember the E60 had the similar problem when it was launched plus it had to bear the radical changes from the E39 (legacy). So many at the time, myself included, thought it is a love/hate thing. For me it was love, but if you see now after so many years the E60 is not perceived anymore as a love/hate thing, this issue is being diluted, a lot, since people got used to the design and accepted it.
I for one love it, why? Well because like others said it's so different than any other European or American brands. Like Jerremy Clarkson said: It's Japanese and it's hard.
LE: The design of the GTR will favor those who are more likely to embrace the new, modernism, and unconventional. It's less likely the design will attract those who cherish so much the 911 design (as it's almost frenetically compared to) since the 911 hasn't really evolve that much over the last 50 years, more precise they tried to perfect it and polish it, generation after generation having started not from such a brilliant design itself but more of unconventional. Thus the initial generation of 911 are perceived by Porsche fans as work of art not necessarily from the design perspective but more from the legacy perspective. It's the spirit of the car collectioner.

it the 20th centry so Porsche move on
just look at Ferrari and labo they come up with new designs all the time and it gets better each time.
For me Porsche brand is just a classic car and no more for now, unless they bring out a new car they will always be old car.
