Yo, so I work the night shift - I'm a trader for a hedge fund, but I trade European markets, hence I work nights. Anyway, not the point. I was on my way to work tonight and decided to cheat on my low-carb diet with a little Mickey D's and so I went into a 24 hour one on 6th Ave bet 46th and 47th streets in Manhattan. If you don't know NYC very well, this is literally a block away from the Rockefeller Center, two blocks away from Times Square and basically the Center of the city.

Standing there waiting for my big mac and these two gangsta-looking dudes "psst" me and nod their heads at me, like they wanna have a word. I check my surroundings, recap all possible scenarios in my head and proceed to approach them with a questioning look in my eyes, as in "what the fuck you want from ME?". One of them gets within a couple of inches of my face and begins to try to sell me crack. Mind you I'm wearing 300 dollar shoes and an Armani sports coat - I mean, does that really say "crackhead" in this town? So, naturally, I politely decline and tell them "its not my thing". They retire. I ponder "WHAT THE FUCK IS UP WITH THIS WORLD?!"

Ironically, what comes to mind is that hook from Jay-Z's song "ain't no love in the heart of the city"

ah, the people you encounter working nights. Tampa isnt so lively, i will sometimes hit a 24 hour grocery store to pick up food and see the vampires that creep out at night. I pulled into a 24 hour subway (never break the diet btw!) and get out of my car, wearing a suit (well the jacket was in the back seat) and i get hounded by some old rednecks from a local bar next door. The said something about my car and my fancy clothes. this was in the tampa burbs, and this is why i will be moving downtown in a few months...
